Tradition of drinking Ofukucha started in Heian period. It is said to had cured a disease that was spreading in Kyoto at that time. At that time\u00a0it was served with umeboshi (pickled plum)\u00a0and kombu (kelp). Nowadays, there are many varieties of Ofukucha according to the area (bancha, houjicha, sencha, genmaicha, tea served with pickled plum and kelp, or without them). Tokunaga`s Ofukucha is high quality steamed tamaryokucha.
